Head North to experience Iceland's second largest city Akureyri and explore its arctic surroundings.

Arrive Reykjavík:
Arriving into Iceland, the junction country for the Atlantic and Artic Oceans, you will be shuttled to your Avanti Destinations Selected Hotel. After checking in you will have some free time to explore the city on your own. The Flybus airport shuttle will take you from Keflavik International Airport to the Reykjavík city hotel. The coaches are parked outside the arrival hall at the airport and are marked "Flybus". At the bus terminal, change to a smaller shuttle which will drop you off at your hotel.

Reykjavík:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and spend the day exploring Reykjavík on your own. The largest city and capital of Iceland, is the world's northernmost capital. In your free time visit Hallgrimskirkja church, one of Iceland's most impressive landmarks; The Pearl, with its panoramic viewing deck; Reykjavík City Hall, with its massive raised-relief map of Iceland. Stroll through the city center filled with street art and take a break at one of its cafes to warm up or explore the Harbor, where many new businesses are popping up. After dinner, make sure to be ready at your hotel to be picked up for your Northern Lights Mystery, 30 minutes prior to the start of the tour. From autumn until spring, during clear and cold dark nights, it's possible to witness one of nature's most incredible displays: the Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis. Far from the glow of Reykjavík city, you hunt for the elusive Northern Lights.

Reykjavík & the Golden Circle:
After breakfast set out on an adventure to the Golden Circle and Fontana Steam Baths. This amazing day tour takes you around the Golden Circle with a visit to Fontana Geothermal Baths for relaxation. Start by visiting Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the Icelandic parliament Althingi was established in 930 AD. Next stop is Lake Laugarvatn and Fontana Geothermal Baths. Before enjoying a soak in the geothermal pools and having a relaxing moment in the natural steam rooms, you`ll get the chance to visit a geothermal bakery. See how rye bread is being baked in a pot in the warm sand and get a taste of the bread with delicious Icelandic butter. After a relaxing bath you continue to Gullfoss waterfall and the spouting hot spring where the geyser Strokkur is sprouting at regular intervals up to 25 meters/82 feet. Remember to bring a towel and a swim suit (can also be rented on spot).

Reykjavík to Akureyri:
Take a taxi to Reykajvik City Airport for your 45 minute flight to Akureyri, Iceland's second-largest city, in northern Iceland. After arriving you will have a private transfer to your Hotel, then spend some time walking around this charming town. You have the option to go on another Northern Lights tour tonight (not included).

Akureyri & Arctic Coastline:
Todays's "Arctic Coastline and Micro Brewery Tour" gives you an opportunity to experience the coastal life in Eyjafjordur Fjord and Trollaskagi Peninsula. The picturesque coastline route, with the mountains hovering above, is a road less traveled and offers the tranquility of rural Iceland. You travel up the Eyjafjordur coastline, learning about coastal life and the beautiful seaside surroundings on the way. Stops include Siglufjordur Village, the busy harbor area of Dalvík Village, one of the biggest ports in the Icelandic fishing industry, and the old herring factory in Hjalteyri Village. The tour ends with a special visit to Kaldi Brewery, Iceland's first micro-brewery, where you will get to taste their products, paired with local food.

Akureyri and Lake Myvatn:
From Akureyri, enjoy an amazing journey through an area of extreme contrasts, bird life, flora, geothermal activity, geology and saga. The Lake Myvatn area is by many considered the most beautiful place in Iceland. The highlights of this tour are a stop at Godafoss Waterfall, the pseudo-craters of Skutustadagigar before we continue to the mystic Dimmuborgir (Dark Cities) full of lava-pillars and formations that are rich of mystic sagas and tales. Stop at the Krafla volcano area and explosion crater Viti (only in summertime). The tour ends at the Myvatn Nature Baths, where you can enjoy a relaxing stay in a completely natural pool of geothermal water in the middle of lava fields with a great view over Lake Myvatn.

Depart Akureyri:
After checking out of your hotel, you'll have a transfer to the airport. Fly back to Reykjavík and then travel on to your next Avanti destination.
